Every product starts with a frustration. Ours was simple: HR software should be powerful yet easy to use, and too often it isn't. Qrew HR was built around that idea, and it still shapes every decision we make.
This post shares why we built Qrew HR, what we set out to fix and the principles that guide us.
The problem we kept seeing
People operations in a growing business touch almost everything: hiring, onboarding, attendance, leave, payroll, compliance, performance and the steady stream of employee questions in between. In many organisations, especially startups and small and mid-sized businesses, that work ends up scattered across spreadsheets, email threads, chat groups and separate tools that don't talk to each other.
The result is familiar to anyone who has worked in HR:
- Employee information lives in several places, and nobody is sure which copy is current.
- Attendance and leave are reconciled by hand before every payroll run.
- Managers don't have a clear view of their own team.
- Employees chase HR for basic things like leave balances or payslips.
- HR spends its days on manual work instead of on people.
The tools that tried to solve this often swung the other way: powerful, but heavy, complicated and built for organisations with large HR departments and long implementation projects.
What we set out to build
We wanted a single platform that does the full job without the complexity. Practically, that meant helping businesses to:
- Centralise employee records in one place, so there's one source of truth.
- Automate workflows such as approvals, reminders and routine requests.
- Manage attendance with flexible shifts, mobile check-in and clear rules.
- Simplify payroll, including Indian statutory requirements like PF, ESI, Professional Tax and TDS.
- Create better employee experiences through self-service on web and mobile.
Those became the building blocks of Qrew HR: HRMS & Employee Records, Attendance, Leave, Payroll & Compliance, Performance, Recruitment & Onboarding and AI Workflows & Helpdesk.
One connected workspace
The most important design choice wasn't any single feature. It was bringing everyone into the same place. Qrew HR connects HR teams, managers, leaders and employees in one workspace:
- HR teams get accurate data and less manual work.
- Managers see their team's attendance, leave and goals, and approve requests quickly.
- Employees help themselves to leave, payslips and requests without chasing anyone.
- Founders and leaders get a clear picture of their people and costs.
When everyone works from the same information, organisations spend less time on manual work and more time building stronger teams. That's the outcome we care about.
The values behind the product
Four principles guide how we build Qrew HR:
Customer First
We listen, adapt and succeed together with the teams that trust us.
Simplify Complexity
We turn HR operations into clear, easy workflows that teams can use confidently.
Innovate Continuously
We improve every day and build for the future of work.
Integrity Always
We do the right thing for our customers, our people and their data.
In practice, "simplify complexity" is the one we test ourselves against most often. Indian HR has real complexity: state-wise rules, statutory deductions, multiple holiday calendars, shifts and hybrid work. Our job is to absorb that complexity in the product so the people using it don't have to.
Built for growing teams
We built Qrew HR with startups, SMEs and enterprises in mind, and we wanted it to be easy to start. That's why you can start with a free trial, with no credit card required, and explore the platform before choosing a plan. You can see the details on our pricing page.
